How automatic table assignment works

Automatic assignment is designed to make a sensible seating choice without taking control away from the floor team.

What TablePace checks

For a booking, TablePace considers:

• party size;
• booking start and duration;
• the published floorplan bound to that service;
• table maximum covers;
• other bookings already using the table during the same period;
• configured table combinations.

Single table before combination

A suitable direct table is ranked ahead of a combination when both can take the party. This avoids using two tables when one appropriate table will do.

No invented combinations

TablePace does not join arbitrary adjacent tables. Only combinations configured in Floorplan are eligible.

Staff can still move a booking

During service, open the booking and use Move table. Choose an available destination and confirm the move.

The selected move target is kept through normal live floor refreshes so the background refresh does not steal the staff member's in-progress action.

When no table fits

Do not assume the booking itself is invalid. First check whether:

• the right floorplan is published and bound;
• table capacities are correct;
• a needed combination has been configured;
• another booking overlaps the required table time;
• the party is genuinely too large for the room setup.
