Prep lists

Turn operational recipe information into a practical preparation workspace for the kitchen.

Open Operations → Prep Lists when you want a focused kitchen preparation view rather than the full recipe/costing workspace.

Prep lists are most useful after your core prep recipes and menu recipes are in TablePace, because the team can work from consistent names and methods instead of maintaining separate spreadsheets or handwritten references.

Use prep lists for shift preparation

Build the day's work around what needs to be prepared, then use the recipe information when staff need quantities or method detail.

Keep prep items operationally specific. “Sauces” is vague; “Yuzu kosho dressing” tells the next cook exactly what needs attention.

Keep the source recipe current

If a method, yield or ingredient changes permanently, update the recipe rather than correcting only one day's prep note. That keeps future prep work and costing based on the same source information.

Review before service

A prep list is most useful when the kitchen checks it early enough to act on missing prep, stock or supplier issues rather than discovering them during service.
