Menus

Build the menus your venue serves and link menu items to stored recipes where that helps costing and prep planning.

Open Operations → Menus to organise the dishes your venue serves into practical menu sections.

Create a menu

  1. Choose Create a menu.
  2. Give the menu a clear name, such as Dinner or Lunch.
  3. Add a short description if it helps staff distinguish similar menus.
  4. Add at least one menu item.
  5. Give each item a section such as Raw, Grill, Sides or Dessert.
  6. Link a stored recipe when that item should connect to recipe/prep information.
  7. Save the menu.

Recipe links are optional. A simple item can exist on the menu without a recipe, while a prepared dish can link to the recipe that represents it.

Edit a menu

Manual menus can be reopened and edited. Update the item name, section or linked recipe, then save the changes.

If a menu should remain in the system but no longer be treated as current, mark it inactive instead of rebuilding it from scratch later.

Square-sourced menus

The menu list can also identify menus whose source is Square. Square-sourced records are read-only in the manual editor; manage the relevant source information through the connected Square workflow rather than trying to edit it as a manual TablePace menu.

A recipe describes how something is made and costed. A menu describes what the venue offers and how items are grouped for service. Link the two when that connection is useful, but do not duplicate recipe methods inside menu descriptions.
